Muted tones and natural materials

Your home, your sanctuary.

must-haves-5.jpg

It is way too noisy out there. Your home should be a place where you can shut everything out and find peace and calmness. Natural materials and muted tones make the perfect environment to lower your levels of stress.

Our top products for the summer in muted tones:

Menu space, a thrill to be back.

Last year, for 3 days of design, Menu Space opened it's doors. After many years, the brand finally opened a showroom in Copenhagen where anyone can get in close contact with the brand and its products. But it's much more than a showroom, its also a cafe and an co-working office.  "An open space where like-minded creative thinkers can work, meet and share their stories, ideas and processes."

Last year we had the opportunity to visit the Space just as it opened it's doors and this year we were back for 3 days of design to experience a more mature environment, with a broader collection. More products that we love.

If you are in Copenhagen don't miss the chance to visit. It's not in the city center but if you head up to Nordhavn neighbourhood, you can visit many other showrooms that will make it very much worth the trip. Here are some images of our latest visit.

Meet the designer - Cecilie Manz

Cecile graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1997 and founded her own studio in Copenhagen in 1998.

Her work within furniture, glass, lighting, and ceramics has received international acclaim and is sold and exhibited all over the world.

“I view all my works as fragments of one big, ongoing story where the projects are often linked or related in terms of their idea, materials and aesthetics, across time and function. Some objects remain experiments or sculpted ideas, others are made more concrete and turn into functional tools.
The task or project itself often holds the key to inspiration; ideas don’t come from waiting but from leg-work, drafting and trials. My work goes from the inside out, and a project has to possess a sound, strong and relevant idea or functional justification before I address the actual physical design. My work has always revolved around simplicity, the process of working toward a pure, aesthetic and narrative object.”

Our top picks from her designs

Workshop chair

An honest chair with a few but right details - its contrast between round and sharp edges, its visible wooden grains and its solid yet light proportions. An understated Scandinavian design object with harmonious craftsmanship detailing.

Workshop table

The Workshop Coffee Table is deliberately simple in its design and has an almost archetypical expression, boiled down to the essence of high quality craftsmanship. With its table top in oak veneer harmoniously carving itself into the frame of solid oak, the Workshop Coffee Table has a clean and understated expression.

A simple mirror that offers more

Flip mirror

Flip is inspired by the traditional dressing table where one can check ones appearance in the mirror and at the same time keep all the small items that are nice to have close at hand before leaving the house.

Javier Moreno

The designer behind this piece says: "Typically, a mirror has only one function, but I wanted to design a mirror that could offer more. You usually look in the mirror just before leaving the house, so why not let it be there where you keep the last things you use to get ready, or need to remember just before you go?"
